MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Softball team kicks off SSC play with a victory over Florida Tech. The Sunshine State victory was powered by a four-run third inning, making that the 8th time this season that NSU has scored four or more runs in a single inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 3rd | Tia Williams singled towards left field, bringing Alexi Watkins across home plate for the first run of the game. Shortly after, with a runner on first and third, Kerstyn Shaw hit a ground ball towards the shortstop, who then attempted to get Alexis Smith out at home plate, but the throw wasn't on time. NSU wasn't done yet, Alyssa Drogemuller reached first base due to an error and Tia Williams scored, increasing the Shark lead to 3-0. With Shaw on third base, Samantha Burke sacrificed flied to left field, and brought in another NSU run, capping off a 4-run inning for NSU.
BOT 5th | Drogemuller retired the side.
TOP 7th | The Sharks tacked on another run, thanks to Williams's second RBI of the game, giving NSU a 5-0 lead.
BOT 7th | The Panthers scored two runs but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback, Nova Southeastern secured tonight's SSC victory 5-2.
